Information about the kit
"I am who I am" is a kit that includes a video documentary that deals with the subject of homosexuality and sexual orientation of adolescents.
The documentary was taped in the Acadian Peninsula in North Eastern New Brunswick. It is a 27 minutes video. Four young homosexuals participated in this documentary and they testify of their lives with their families and their friends in a very simple and honest way.
The objective of this kit is to break the isolation and bring help to adolescents who are dealing with their sexual orientation. It was developped in collaboration with adolescents for adolescents, and as an educational tool for teachers and other school counsellors at the secondary level.
"I am who I am" also aims at developping a better awareness and promotes a better understanding of the reality of young homosexuals among their peers.
We hope to make a difference and reduce the suicidal risk of young homosexuals. We also aim at reducing the number of hate crimes from which they are victims.
